Graduates of the Surgical Technology program at the Îá°®³Ô¹Ï will find placement in the fast-paced operating room environment. This part of our surgical services includes a nationally accredited AAS degree program that instructs the student in various aspects of surgery including aseptic technique, instrumentation, procedures, anatomy, and microbiology. Upon completion graduates will be eligible for national certification testing. This is a "portable" career and our graduates are in demand nationwide.
Special Requirements
Clinical Case Requirements for Surgical Technology Program at Îá°®³Ô¹Ï
As per the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology (7th edition) and our Îá°®³Ô¹Ï clinical guidelines:
Students must complete a minimum of 120 cases as delineated below: (Note: to ensure each student meets our accreditation and graduation requirement Îá°®³Ô¹Ï asks each student to complete 130 scrub cases.)
- General Surgery
- A student must complete a minimum of 30 cases in General Surgery
- 20 of these cases must be performed in the FIRST SCRUB (FS) or solo (SS) role
- The remaining 10 cases may be performed in either the FS or the SS role
- Students who complete more than 30 General Surgery cases in either the FS or SS role will still count toward the total required 130 cases.
- Specialty Surgery
- A student must complete a minimum of 90 cases in various surgical specialities, excluding General Surgery
